Common questions
What counts as added sugar?
Sugars added when the food is made: sugar, syrups, honey, fruit juice concentrates, dextrose and the like. The sugar that's naturally in milk, or in whole fruit and vegetables, isn't counted.
Spoonwize turns the grams into teaspoons at 4 g per teaspoon and draws one spoon per teaspoon, rounded up, so you can count them at a glance.
Why do some results say "estimated"?
Many labels show total sugar only, not added sugar. When that happens, Spoonwize estimates the added part from the ingredients and marks the result "estimated" so you know it isn't a figure printed on the pack.
If a count looks wrong, email us the barcode or a photo of the label and we'll check it.
How does baby mode work?
For a child under 12 months, Spoonwize doesn't use a teaspoon budget. Instead every scan flags added sugar, honey, added salt, fruit juice and sweeteners in the ingredients, based on the Australian Infant Feeding Guidelines.
In the month your child turns one, they move to a spoon budget for their age.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, so you cancel them there. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Spoonwize and tap Cancel Subscription.
- Android: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions, choose Spoonwize and tap Cancel subscription.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
